Recognizing the signs of stress

 

 How do we perceive stress? How do we know that we are under stress? First and foremost everyone experiences stress differently. What is stressful for you might be invigorating for me. Experiencing stress is a very personal experience.

 

Flight or Fight- Sound the Alarm

 

This is the body's way of preparing for immediate danger. We might experience increased heart blood pressure, body temperature, respiratory rate, sweating, and muscle tension. These reactions are a result of the body producing increased levels of "stress hormones," such as cortisol and adrenaline [epinephrine]

 

Our bodies are not designed to maintain this type of response indefinitely.
